Dear Dr. Ambriogi and Mr. Wyluda:

During the week of January 15, 2002, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE)conducted a monitoring visit
of the South River School District to determine your district's compliance with the requirements of the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 1997 and the New Jersey Administrative Code (N.J.A.C.) 6A:14. This monitoring
included a review of the information contained in your self-assessment and improvement plan. The district is
commended for the numerous areas determined compliant by the district and verified by the Office of Special Education Programs.

As a result of these monitoring activities, areas of compliance have been identified as well as those areas
determined to be in need of correction. The district is required to read the summary page of this report at the next
public meeting of the school board of education.

At this time, the district must revise its improvement plan to include specific activities and timelines to ensure the
prompt correction of all areas of need identified in the report of findings. The revised plan is to be submitted to the
Office of Special Education Programs for final approval within 45 days of receiving the report of findings.

I would like to thank you and your staff for the cooperation shown during the monitoring process. We are committed
to working with you and your staff to address all areas of need. Georgianna Pariacoski of the Office of Special
Education Programs will remain available to provide technical assistance to you and your staff regarding the required
revisions to your district's improvement plan.
